Some standard and simple tests can give your doctor the first clue as to whether you have heart disease.

During your visit, your doctor will:

  •  Listen to your heart
  •  take a pulse
  •  check your blood pressure
  •  listen to your heart

Your doctor listens to your heartbeat with a stethoscope. You will hear a 'love dub' sound when you close the heart valve. By listening to these sounds, the doctor can check the health of the heart and valves, and hear the heart rate and rhythm.

 Check your heart rate

You will feel a pulse to check your heart rate and rhythm. Each pulse is paired with a heartbeat that pumps blood through your arteries. The strength of the pulse also helps the doctor know the strength of blood flow to different parts of your body.

You can tell how fast your heart is beating by feeling your pulse. Your heart rate is the number of beats per minute.

A second-hand watch is all you need to measure your heart rate. Place your index and middle fingers.

hand on the inner wrist of the opposite arm, just below the base of the thumb. You should feel your fingers thump and bump. Count the touches you feel in 10 seconds. Multiply this number by 6 to find your heart rate for one minute.

This also indicates whether the rhythm of the heart is regular or not.

 check your blood pressure

This is the force or pressure the heart needs to pump blood around the body. This is recorded in two measurements.

Systolic blood pressure: Arterial pressure (high number) as the heart beats

Diastolic blood pressure: Arterial pressure as the heart relaxes as it strains (small number)

Normal resting adult Blood pressure is less than 120 and less than 80. Blood pressure may fluctuate depending on your age:

  •  age
  •  Heart disease
  •  feelings
  •  activity
  •  dosage
  •  High readings do not mean high blood pressure. It needs to be checked at various times while you are resting to find your true score.

Check your mind with a physical exam

Doctors can also learn about heart health by looking at other parts of the body, such as the heart. B. Your eyes, arms, legs, skin. They check if each is a good color. This is how they know if your body is getting enough blood.

Also, check for swelling. If so, it could mean your heart isn't pumping well.

Check your heart with a blood test

Your doctor may recommend a blood test to check your cholesterol levels and other things that could indicate heart disease.
